Fly Like the Wind

key D minor on source songbook chords Am Em G tempo ≈129 chords Am Em G

It is printed in Rainbow AU songs, vol. A, song #113, p.22 (words and chords; author unrecorded). The melody here follows the singing on “Rainbow Spirit — Songs and Chants of the Rainbow Family” compilation, track 18 at 0:57:16 — Ananda Das, YouTube. The Granada songbook merges it with Earth My Body — a living medley tradition; it is also attested in the firecirclechants and ES songbooks.

Melody

Fly like the wind

Run like the water

Moving o'er the land

For eternity

Once we are young and full of being

G Am

Once we are babies and full of seeing

Once we are strong and full of doing

G Am

Once we are old and full of knowing

We are here and gone this candle flicker

Spinning on a wheel that is larger than life

It's hard to know the bigger picture

To understand it all and be free from strife

Your gypsy soul it keeps you moving

Rolling all around like a tumble weed

You're fully grown but you're still learning

Learning what it means to be truly free
