Sacred Rainbow Nation Songs of Light, Peace and Love · Song 244
Widely credited to Diana Hildebrand-Hull; sung as a commons across circle-song traditions. It is printed in Rainbow AU songs, vol. A, song #244, p.50 (hand-notated). The melody here follows the singing on “The River is Flowing … A video presentation” — SONGS I LOVE, YouTube. It is also heard on Ananda Das compilation (1:16:11) · Mettaben collection, “the_river_she_is_flowing” (CC BY-NC-SA).
Em Bm Em
The river is flowing, flowing and growing,
Em D Em
the river is flowing back to the sea.
G Em D Em
Mother Earth carry me, your child I will always be,
G Em D Em
Mother Earth carry me, back to the sea.
The Moon she is waiting, waxing and waning,
the Moon she is waiting for us to be free.
Sister Moon watch over me, a child I will always be,
Sister Moon watch over me, until we are free.
